Grandmaster Kim, 9th Dan (now retired), began his journey in Taekwondo in Seoul, South Korea in the early 1970s. Through years of relentless dedication, he mastered the art and became a true pioneer in the martial arts world. He opened his first dojang in the 80's, where he trained and mentored countless students, instilling not only skill and discipline but also character and respect. Over his career, Grandmaster Kim has produced thousands of black belts, many of whom have gone on to become instructors, champions, and leaders worldwide. His influence has shaped generations, and his legacy is not just in the belts and trophies, but in the countless lives he has transformed through the power of Taekwondo.

Master Jun Kim, son of Grandmaster Kim, started training in Taekwondo at the age of 3. Guided by his father’s expertise, he quickly developed a strong foundation and a lifelong devotion to the art. Master Jun Kim has carried forward his father’s mission with unwavering dedication, opening JK Tae Kwon Do Academy in 2010. Since then, he has led the San Antonio location, making an incredible impact on the local community. His students compete at the national level every year, showcasing their skills and discipline across the United States, and even going on to perform every year for the San Antonio Spurs halftime show, in front of tens of thousands of fans and on national television at the Frost Bank Center. Following in Grandmaster Kim’s footsteps, Master Jun Kim has become a mentor, a role model, and a true force for positive change in the lives of his students, inspiring the next generation of leaders and martial artists.
